وصف القصيدة: هذه القصيدة للشاعر الفلسطيني محمود درويش [1941-2008م] من ديوانه: "كزهر اللوز أو أبعد" وهي مع سهولة ألفاظها، وسلاسة تركيبها، تحمل معاني جمة، وتصلح للتدريس والتعليم، خاصة في المرحلة المتوسطة، أو ختام المرحلة الإبتدائية، وأوردها هنا مكتوبة، ومسموعة بصوت الشاعر نفسه، مع ترجمة لمعانيها إلى الإنجليزية والفرنسية.

فكر بغيرك

وأَنتَ تُعِدُّ فطورك، فكِّرْ بغيركَ

لا تَنْسَ قُوتَ الحمامْ
وأَنتَ تخوضُ حروبكَ، فكِّر بغيركَ

لا تَنْسَ مَنْ يطلبون السلامْ
  ،وأنتَ تسدد فاتورةَ الماءفكِّر بغيركَ

مَنْ يرضَعُون الغمامْ

وأَنتَ تعودُ إلى البيت ، بيِتكَ، فكِّرْ بغيركَ

لا تنس شعب الخيامْ

وأَنت تنام وتُحصي الكواكبَ، فكِّرْ بغيركَ

ثَمَّةَ مَنْ لم يجد حيّزاً للمنام

وأَنتَ تحرِّرُ نفسك بالاستعارات،فكِّرْ بغيركَ

مَنْ فَقَدُوا حَقَّهم في الكلامْ

وأَنتَ تفكِّر بالآخرين البعيدين، فكِّرْ بنفسك

قُلْ: ليتني شمعةٌ في الظلامْ

'As you prepare your breakfast think of others.
Don’t forget to feed the pigeons.
As you conduct your wars think of others.
Don’t forget those who want peace.
As you pay your water bill think of others.
Think of those who only have clouds to drink from.
As you go home, your own home, think of others
Don’t forget those who live in tents.
As you sleep and count the planets think of others
There are people who have no place to sleep.
As you liberate yourself with metaphors think of others
Those who have lost their right to speak
And as you think of distant others
Think of yourself and say
I wish i were a candle in the darkness.'

"Quand tu prépares ton petit-déjeuner,
pense aux autres. (N´oublie pas le grain aux colombes.)
Quand tu mènes tes guerres,
pense aux autres. (N oublie pas ceux qui réclament la paix.)
Quand tu règles la facture d´eau,
pense aux autres. (Qui tètent les nuages.)
Quand tu rentres à la maison,
pense aux autres. (N´oublie pas le peuple des tentes.)
Quand tu comptes les étoiles pour dormir,
pense aux autres. (Certains n´ont pas le loisir de rêver.)  
Quand tu te libères par la métonymie,
pense aux autres. (Qui ont perdu le droit à la parole.)
Quand tu penses aux autres lointains,
pense à toi. (Dis-toi : Que ne suis-je une bougie dans le noir?)"
